Sources of Madness - The Insane Thinkers of the Modern Age
Bird-Brain Flu
Offsite
What is more characteristic of our modern day than crazy and wholly indefensible “policies”? It seems one of the undeniable characteristics of our times that many of the West’s most common practices and theories appear the result of insane conclusions. Perhaps this did not occur by accident. Instead, many of the founders of this modern age were troubled individuals who struggled with profound emotional and mental issues.

The English riots: How British law fosters disorder
Bird-Brain Flu
Offsite
The most amazing thing about the reaction of English MPs to last week’s terrible violence was how surprised they were. For a country whose criminal law is invariably sympathetic to offenders, nearly always harsh on their victims, and unwilling to pay for adequate policing the surprise is that they were surprised.

‘What’s really killing carbon capture and storage?’
Bird-Brain Flu
Paul Driessen
Bloomberg magazine bemoans dying interest in CCS, while the boss hastens its demise - Carbon capture and storage could ensure abundant electricity from coal, while cutting the CO2 emissions “responsible for climate change.” Yet, barely two years after “a sense of determination and common cause” inspired the Obama Energy Department to launch CCS projects, industry is “pulling the plug.”

Dem. Party Chair Mad that GOP wants to Make Being an Illegal Alien… er… Illegal
Bird-Brain Flu
Warner Todd Huston
Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz is a Democrat Congresswoman from Florida and is currently the head of the Democrat National Committee. She is also one of the most vitriolic, off base, half informed demagogues of the far left in America today. There are tons of examples of her lies and calumnies out there—it’s an almost daily occurrence now that she is DNC head—but today we have a new one. This time DWS is lamenting how Republicans want to make illegal immigration, well, illegal.

The Left’s Favorite Traitor
Bird-Brain Flu
Offsite
Treason Has Become a Fashion Statement - The only crime our government has committed against PFC Bradley Manning, the pudgy little arch-traitor adored by America’s left, is that the taxpayer is still paying to house, feed and medically treat him.

Obama Can’t Trust His Own Party
Bird-Brain Flu
Offsite
Make no mistake. President Barack Obama’s support for an extension of the Bush tax cuts is born out of the reality that his re-election is now less than two years away, and by the minute he is losing those independent voters who voted for him in 2008.

‘Treasury Dept’s New Charge: Muslim Outreach??’
Bird-Brain Flu
Warner Todd Huston
Is the U.S. Department of the Treasury undertaking a new role? Taking its newest press release(1) as an example, one could be excused to imagine that our Treasury Department has decided that it is now our ‘next’ Department of Muslim Outreach.

Maureen Dowd: A Degraded State of Intelligent Discourse
Bird-Brain Flu
Warner Todd Huston
I don’t write about Maureen Dowd simply because she rarely offers anything worthy of serious, intellectual discussion. I don’t claim any sort of high intellect for myself, of course, and don’t necessarily claim to be able to thoroughly judge the work of the deepest of thinkers but Dowd’s work is like the old saying about pornography in as much as when it comes to stupid prattle I know it when I see it.

‘Brights: The lights are on, but is anyone home?’
Bird-Brain Flu
Robert E. Meyer
Recently, I received an E-mail from a gentleman who described himself as a “Bright.” Just in case you are not familiar with the term, it is not slang for an electrician or a light bulb salesman, but someone that is committed to a naturalistic worldview. To put it in simple English, it is a person who does not believe in God, or anything in the supernatural realm.
