Lawsuit Abuse Gone Wild:  Now They Attack Those On The Sidelines
Big Brother Tom Segel

Harlingen, Texas May 18, 2007: The Great Lone Star State of Texas waged a multi-year battle against lawsuit abuse that has resulted in some meaningful tort reforms, with even more reform working its way through the legislative pipeline.  This is not true of the same abuses being inflicted upon the national population.  Washington D. C. has still not mustered up enough political backbone to do battle against the nation’s army of trial lawyers.

The Smirk, the Lips, and the Truth
Big Brother James T. Moore

A picture may be worth a thousand words, but three pictures can be priceless.  Two pictures appeared in today’s newspaper. And they made me sick. The third picture, on another page, made me damn proud to be an American.

Americans Are Living (And Dying) In A Militarized Police State
Big Brother Dave Gibson

Today, police departments across the United States more closely resemble an occupying army than they do public servants responding to calls for help. Police officers can now be seen wearing helmets and body armor and carrying AR-15’s, just to deliver simple warrants. The militarization of our police departments not only gives the appearance of a military dictatorship but places the public at great risk.

AIM Editor: Federal Media Shield Law Must Be Defeated
Big Brother Sarah Schaerr Norton

WASHINGTON, May 2, 2007 - Accuracy in Media editor Cliff Kincaid said today that the proposed federal media shield law, the so-called Free Flow of Information Act, is a Pandora’s Box that would backfire on the media because of the inability to adequately define basic terms such as “journalist.”

‘Philip Dru, Administrator: Who does he sound like?’
Big Brother James T. Moore

On the back cover of Philip Dru: Administrator, it says: “Dru has had a greater impact on American government than the Communist Manifesto, Mein Kampf or any other tract of political extremism, yet by comparison, Dru is unknown.” And yet, William Norman Grigg, writer for The New American, calls this “unread” book “the most influential political tract of the 20th Century.”

“I Don’t Care What the Judge Said!”
Big Brother Joel Turtel

How Jury Nullification Can End the Sick War on Drugs - “Look, Mr. Straun, John, can I call you John? We’ve been at this for 25 days. We’re all sick of this. We all want to go home. You’re the only one left. You’re the one keeping us here. I got things to do at home. I got to go to work and make a living. All of us do. The judge is mad as hell at us. You’re going to hang this jury. You’re going to make this three-month trial into a farce and waste of time. You have no right to vote acquittal. You heard the judge’s instructions. The jury is not allowed to judge the law, only the facts.”

Another Victim Disarmament Zone Shooting, 32 Dead. Thank You, Congress. Thanks a Lot!
Big Brother John Longenecker

This visitation of death against Virginia Tech University this week is a direct result of gun laws banning weapons within 1,000 feet of a school—the victim disarmament zone is as advertised once more. Sure the shoote ris to blame, but Congress ahers the blame not only for shootings, but for any instance of disarming citizens who could have resisted with all legal authority and use of force. Why obfuscate or discourage this legal authority?

G.W. Bush, CD of U.S. Advertising, Inc,
Big Brother James T. Moore

G.W. Bush has the “horse apples” pitch down pat. Which is basically the forte of the creative director of an advertising agency. For the uninitiated, the responsibility of a creative director (CD) is to (l) understand the mechanism of persuasion, and (2) be an expert at “image” making: influencing the public to believe what you want them to believe. Having been the CD of two ad agencies, it is this technique of saturating the brain with dazzling hyperbole that I was pretty good at. So, when I say that Bush makes a good CD, I know whereof I speak.

Goodbye “National Guard”, Hello “International Guard.”
Big Brother James T. Moore

I’m no expert on the U. S. Constitution.  Politics is often a mind boggler. Military tactics are a mystery. And war with any country is not in my play book. So I may be dumb about the aforementioned topics, but I’m not stupid, and I can read. And what I’m reading lately about the inappropriate misapplication (again) of America’s National Guard raises my blood pressure to dangerous levels.
