Former NBA star Tim Hardaway made waves on the airwaves recently by remarking that he hated homosexuals.  It became the story du jour the next day, prompting the obligatory posturing and feigned outrage.  Pundit Bill O’Reilly said (I’m paraphrasing), “We can’t have this in America,” although at least he was sincere.

Given the successes of those states issuing concealed carry permits to citizens, I suggest a nationwide pilot program: the repeal of all anti-gun laws - all 22,000 of them - for a period of five years. This includes a moratorium on all new gun laws for five years, and suspension of all court cases pending for weapons charges with the exception of violent crimes involving a gun. Owning a certain kind of rifle is considerably different from holding up a liquor store with a gun.

Have you ever seen anyone sit down at the breakfast table and pour themselves a big ol’ bowl of cigarettes?  Of course not.  Why not?  Because cigarettes aren’t food, that’s why.

This is for all of you over-65 “seasoned” citizens trying to survive on your monthly Social Security, pensions and savings in an era of continuing inflation that diminishes the value of money every year.

New York State Senator Carl Kruger really feels with every fiber of his little bleeding heart that government is the solution to all the really pressing problems in society.  In particular he thinks that government is the best way to stop stupid people from doing stupid things.  But further he believes that since stupid people do stupid things everyone should be treated like stupid people.

In order to gain a conviction against US Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, the US Department of Homeland Security has admitted it lied to Congress.  DHS Inspector General Richard L. Skinner, testifying before the Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee, admitted Tuesday that the charges he and his agency brought against the USBP agents were false and that DHS’ agents had fabricated the evidence used to convict Compean and Ramos.  The two USBP agents were convicted of firing upon and hitting admitted drug smuggler Osvaldo Aldrete, while he was in the process of smuggling 743 pounds of marijuana across the border.  Aldrete was given immunity from prosecution for testifying against the USBP agents.  Skinner is reported to have said that his DHS agents had “misinformed” (AKA “lied to") Congress.  Note:  DHS’ actions represent a complete obstruction of justice, the Border Patrol agents’ convictions should be immediately overturned and the DHS agents who supplied the bogus testimony should be prosecuted with the full force of the law.

A recent Wallstreet Journal editorial by Jennifer Saranow entitled - The Snoop Next Door(1), highlighted some interesting websites that have been taking their slot on the World Wide Web of late… and, no, it isn’t porn.

Try to think of some societal problem in which the government solution didn’t make the situation worse or more expensive.  Go ahead.  I’ll wait.

The holiday season is over and we made into the New Year. The W2 statements arrive and for the next two months people will be scrambling to have their taxes filed to avoid the massive penalties that the IRS imposes with interest rates that would make even a Mafia Don blush with shame. With taxes on gas, food, goods, community, state, federal, Social Security, Medicare, services, and a multitude of other fees and taxes, our backs are breaking and the last thing we need is a government sanctioned street gang to burden us any further.

California Assemblyman Lloyd Levine, D-Van Nuys, has proposed more legislation, this time to ban incandescent light bulbs. These are the lights bulbs that are used in most houses today.
