Now Arizona must get its own house in order - It looks like Arizona is set to opt out of No Child Left Behind. Arizonans need transparency and accountability in public schooling, but they do not need NCLB.

Right on the heels of Harvard’s capitulation to Sharia mores at its Quadrangle Recreational Athletic Center, the Harvard “academic” community indulged an ideologue with much grander aspirations for implementing Sharia, UCLA Professor of Law, Khaled Abou el Fadl.

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger today blasted a court ruling that endangered homeschooling and homeschoolers statewide.

There comes a time when an institution has been so badly damaged that the best thing to do is to junk it and start over. The American schools have been in trouble for as long as I can remember. It’s worth remembering that the nation has been at risk due to educational failures since 1983 saw the publication of “A Nation at Risk: The Imperative For Educational Reform.” But despite repeated reforms, the public schools of America have continued to get worse by nearly every statistical measure.

The wind of freedom blows, our university motto declares, but perhaps only until someone gets offended.

Migdia Chinea, a Cuban-American screenwriter and actress who has writing credits for the TV series “The Incredible Hulk” and “Superboy,” recently documented how she was attacked and injured by students while she served as a substitute teacher in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

In many cases, attending a 4 year College or University is just a waste of money and time.  Business, Education(Teaching), Law, Medicine and the Sciences are pretty obvious candidates for a 4 year degree and higher degrees.

An Islamic “jihad” is an effort by Muslims to convince “others to take up worthy causes, such as funding medical research,” according to a textbook that is being used for junior high age students in California and other states. 

Last year’s scamnesty bill had widespread support among the powers-that-be, with the president, the Democrat majority and mainstream media all singing its praises.  Yet it went down to defeat, slain by a new-media coalition of talk radio and blogosphere warriors.  Working tirelessly to expose the truth and rally the grassroots, they became a David who slew a Goliath.

Imagine a university where you could hear some of the best and brightest minds on a regular basis. Your faculty would include generals and attorneys general, public intellectuals and best-selling authors, dissidents and former political prisoners. In your classroom, you could question prime ministers and Nobel laureates, members of Congress, cabinet secretaries and Supreme Court justices. Occasionally, the president and vice president would come by to make major policy statements.

I am going to be politically incorrect. The fact is not everyone should go to college. Yet we have pushed the notion that the only way to get a useful education is to obtain a college degree.

It’s a fact. Most of today’s school children can barely read or write. They can’t perform math problems without a calculator. They barely know who the Founding Fathers were and know even less of their achievements. Most can’t tell you the name of the President of the United States. It’s pure and simple; today’s children aren’t coming out of school with an academics education.

It is this reporter’s opinion that we Americans must now take a serious look at our educational system. Recently I interviewed Tom DeWeese, president of the American Policy Center and editor of the “The DeWeese Report.””

Despite that candidates like Mitt Romney have outspent Mike Huckabee 20 to 1 on the campaign trail, Mike has a 2 to 1 lead over Romney in Iowa and is placing No. 1 in some national polls.
