N.Y. Times Lacks Good Immigration Sense
MSM
Offsite
A New York Times editorial of Sept. 9 commenting on the recent battle on immigration legislation exhibited a naiveté that was, for me, beyond belief. The Times has led the battle for the McCain-Kennedy bill to provide a path to U.S. citizenship for 12 to 20 million illegal immigrants. While attacking President Bush on nearly every front nearly every day, on this issue it allied itself with the president, a supporter of the legislation.

Media Negative throughout Nearly Four Years of Job Growth
MSM

By predicting job losses, focusing on layoffs and ignoring job revisions the media have cast a pall over the U.S. economy.

UPI Makes Hillary Clinton Into a Victim of ‘Hillary Haters’
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
Today the UPI news service published a story aimed at making Hillary Clinton out to be a victim of “swift boating” and “haters” by focusing on those who are gearing up to oppose her candidacy for president on the Internet. UPI dismisses all opposition to Hillary as “old news,” and “rumors,” calls anti-Clinton forces “snide” and “haters,” but what do they say of the target? All they say is she is “ready to fight back” as if she is a stalwart hero waiting to defend her honor. And not once does this short and rather pointless report deal with a single substantive argument against her candidacy presenting opposition as if it is just crazy extremism gone wild. In the end, this report is little else but UPI shilling for their favored candidate; Hillary Clinton.

Paper Says Bush Supporters Are ‘White, male, middle-aged and slightly stupid’
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
So, what we have here is the only hate-speak(1) that the MSM will allow. Attacks on white men who vote Republican. In this case we see our friendly Seattle Post-Intelligencer columnist, Dorothy Parvaz, reveling in her hatred of Bush supporters. Not only is she attempting to malign white Republican men, but she is also doing so on the basis of physical appearance alone. And here I thought that the left was fond of scolding people who judge others by their looks?

Wall Street Journal Lies About Sea Treaty
MSM
Cliff Kincaid
If and when Rupert Murdoch starts cleaning house at the Wall Street Journal, he ought to take a hard look at Neil King Jr., who has an article in the August 22 issue that completely misleads readers of the paper about the U.N. Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), coming before the Senate next month. The thrust of the article is that the treaty is one of the most wonderful things in the world and that everybody is backing it except for a few conservatives.

Obama Calls Canadian Prime Minister a ‘President’ - Where is Media Ridicule?
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
At the Democrat Party presidential debates last Tuesday, Barack Obama revealed that he didn’t know that our Canadian neighbors to the north had a prime minister instead of a president leading them. Yet the MSM has practically ignored this obvious gaffe, with few of them making much of the incident. This is a far cry from how Bush was so virulently attacked for having no foreign policy “gravitas” during the 2000 campaign. But for a Democrat in 2007 it’s pass time. Nothing to see here, folks, keep moving.

Paper Uses Global Warming Activist’s Press Release as News Story
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
The Palm Beach Post was caught in a bit of deception by one of its readers over the weekend. At issue was another globaloney alarmist story the paper printed on July 25th, titled “This century hotter than last, group finds,"(1) supposedly by Post writer Dara Kam. Unfortunately for the reputation of Dara Kam and that of the paper, this “article” was merely a rewording of the press release of an environmentalist group calling themselves, Environment Florida(2). An alert reader who wrote in calling them on it also exposed several other papers across the country that did the very same thing.

ACLU Pervert Pleads Guilty To Child Porn Charges…Mainstream Media Still Silent!
MSM
Dave Gibson
The former head of the Virginia chapter of the ACLU pled guilty last month in an Alexandria, U.S. District Court to child pornography charges. Despite Charles Rust-Tierney’s high profile position and the incredibly vile material he regularly purchased, the mainstream press is as silent about his guilty plea as they were when he was arrested five months ago.

Beauchamp Mirrors Glass: New Republic, same old story
MSM
Daniel Clark
Already infamous for the fictitious reporting of Stephen Glass, The New Republic has done it again. This time, the magazine has run a series of dubious narratives from Iraq, written by an American soldier named Scott Thomas Beauchamp.

Just the facts Ma’am
MSM
Miguel Guanipa
Perhaps I missed it, but I have yet to read if the Associated Press, the spigot from which virtually every news media outlet fills their vessel, posted a retraction after hastily - and erroneously - reporting that none of the benchmarks the Bush Administration and Congress set for the Iraqi government had been met. Coupled with the reluctance with which news of any progress in Iraq are proffered and the glaringly biased reports downplaying the recent thwarted terrorist attacks in London and Glasgow, these seemingly habitual transgressions are sobering reminders of the Main Stream Media’s apparent complacency with its devolving image as a cultural entity that has been irreparably tarnished by ideology.

MSM Highlight GOP ‘Defections’, Ignore Dems Voting Against Their Own
MSM
Warner Todd Huston
We are seeing all over the MSM the reports highlighting the Republicans in the House and Senate who are turning away from the Party line and voting against—or at least seeming to vote against—the President’s Iraq war policies. The MSM is presenting this revolt as a momentous thing, unprecedented and presenting it as a loss for the President’s ideas. Yet, even as a small number of Republicans have, indeed, voted against the Party line, an even larger number of Democrats are voting against ‘their’ Party, too. Yet, somehow, we are not hearing this being brought up by the tongue waggers and controversy-mongers in the MSM.

What Has Happened to Cal Thomas?
MSM
Christopher Adamo
Few Americans, back when first subjected to the insipid banalities of Jimmy
Carter, presumed him to be a deliberately malignant force striving to wreak
horrendous harm on the country. Rather, he was perceived as a naive imbecile
who had merely gotten in over his head after falling into the presidency in
the wake of Nixon, Watergate, and the lackluster administration of Gerald
Ford.
Seven Minutes of Limbaugh
MSM
Paul A. Ibbetson
As a growing debate builds over a Democrat inspired push to resurrect the Fairness Doctrine and artificially decrease the market demand for conservative radio, there may be no better time to pay homage to one of the stalwart radio personalities that personifies the conservative dominance of the airwaves. That individual is Rush Limbaugh. I have been a Rush Limbaugh listener for many years. As my daily schedule has altered, as does often happen in life, I would listen to different segments of the daily program and enjoy the creative educational environment that Rush seems to create with ease and grace. I would always listen to at least an hour of the show, even in the most hectic of daily schedules, until at one point in my life I found myself in the most peculiar of situations. Yes, that is when a strange and powerful set of forces came together that both limited and increased for me the phenomenon that is known as the Rush Limbaugh experience.

Pained by Numbers
MSM
Thomas Lindaman
If you’ve been watching the media lately (and I know you have been because I’ve put little cameras in your living room), you’ve heard a lot about President Bush’s approval ratings being in the 20-30% range for a while now. Well, he’s not alone. A recent Gallup poll shows Congress’s approval rating at 14%, even lower than that of Dick Cheney and Scooter Libby. You know, when you’re sucking Libby’s popularity fumes, you have a serious image problem.
