The Norwegian government is building its high-tech new Global Seed Vault on the Arctic island of Svalbard to protect the world’s plant varieties in case of global climate change. Meanwhile, outside the Svalbard vault, the island’s own hardy Arctic plants are demonstrating that Mother Nature knows how to keep her species alive through natural adaptation to the earth’s naturally radical climate cycling.

New evidence supports premise that Earth produces endless supply - A study published in Science Magazine today [Feb. 1, 2008] presents new evidence supporting the abiotic theory for the origin of oil, which asserts oil is a natural product the Earth generates constantly rather than a “fossil fuel” derived from decaying ancient forests and dead dinosaurs.

Think energy is expensive now? Wait until Congress plugs in the “Climate Security Act of 2007.”

...At the first Earth Day celebration, in 1969, environmentalist Nigel Calder warned, “The threat of a new ice age must now stand alongside nuclear war as a likely source of wholesale death and misery for mankind.” C.C. Wallen of the World Meteorological Organization said, “The cooling since 1940 has been large enough and consistent enough that it will not soon be reversed.”

...Speaking last weekend at a high-tech firm near St. Louis, Missouri, the President attempted to defend himself against the charge that his policies were responsible for rising food prices.

Add the word “sustainable” to almost any project, and immediately, the project becomes politically correct and therefore, acceptable.  The surge of “sustainability” or “sustainable development” in recent years is phenomenal.  Americans have been awed by the sales pitch and have bought into the idea of “sustainable development” - without looking under the hood to examine the engine.  Nor have Americans realized that “sustainable development” is a self-directing vehicle that is transforming a once-free society into sustainable communities where nearly every human activity requires the permission of government.

Global warming alarmists, news media portray arctic beasts as victims and spokesbears, but protecting their thriving population means greatly increased federal power to control our lives.

Now that another Earth Day has come and gone, let’s look at some environmentalist predictions that they would prefer we forget.

In case you haven’t noticed, gas prices are soaring, hiking the cost of food and just about everything else. If you believe Hillary Clinton, the blame for all this lies on the shoulders of those greedy oil companies and their bloated profit margins, a notion that like just about every other snake-oil remedy she tries to peddle is simply not the case.

The usual chorus of environmentalists and editorial writers has chimed in to attack President Bush’s recent speech on climate change. In his address of April 23, he put forth a goal of stopping the growth of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2025.

Financial Times reports “OPEC says oil could hit $200,” up from the record $120 a barrel today. If and when that happens, predicted to be this summer, the $3.50 to $4.00 prices you see at the pumps today will top $5.00 per gallon and you can thank liberal environmentalists for that!

Millions of Africans are dying or facing death; Americans are reeling as gas prices soar, threatening to wreck the economy and drive many into poverty; famine is rearing its ugly head in many areas of the world; and available remedies for these and other serious problems are ignored, ridiculed, or stymied.

With gas prices now yon-side of $3.50 per gallon, wouldn’t it be great to have an extra million barrels of domestic oil flowing daily into the American pipeline?  Blame William Jefferson Clinton, who vetoed a bill in 1995 that would have opened the Alaska reserves that could have been producing much needed domestic energy today.

As food prices soar, and rationing of such things as rice begin, America’s media are finally starting to wake up to the inconvenient truth that ethanol is not the energy panacea folks like Nobel Laureate Al Gore proclaim.

Harlingen, Texas, April 24, 2008:  When I read the newspaper or view the nightly television news shows I can’t help but feel almost uncontrollable anger. And the truth is, I really don’t know where that anger should be directed. I listen to my fellow citizens anguish about the price of fuel, the price of food and sticker shock at everything they want to purchase. They have great concerns about the price of gas at the local station and the cost of milk at the super market.  And they blame the politicians for inaction, along with greedy farmers and Big Oil for high prices.  With their next breath they are crying for more of our corn based ethanol to help lower prices at the pump.  It is enough to make a rational person want to bash his or her head against the nearest hard object in complete frustration.
