WASHINGTON, Feb. 23 /Christian Newswire/—Bishops Janice Riggle Huie, president of the Council of Bishops; Gregory Vaughn Palmer, the council’s president-designate; and Beverly Shamana, president of the United Methodist Board of Church and Society have publicly condemned President Bush’s proposed federal budget for 2008, which they claim is callous towards the poor. The budget is approximately 2.9 trillion dollars, with over 60 percent going towards non-military programs, mostly “entitlement” programs like Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare.

Talk about a blatant attempt to mislead with a headline! We have no better example of such an effort than one by the AP today. It is a textbook case of a headline that does not fit the facts of the story.

With our radical left-wing Congress setting forth on a mission to preserve and enlarge the welfare-state, it’s appropriate to review the arrogant destructiveness of their New Deal predecessors who created the welfare-state.

Until 1933, the U. S. dollar was the among the strongest and most stable currencies in the world.  With the stroke of a pen, President Franklin Roosevelt torpedoed it.  We are still plagued with the resulting inflation.

Premise: Progressivism (a Communist/Marxist/Socialist ideology) extoles the greatness of mediocrity and uniformness (equal poverty for all).

Smarting from the bankruptcy of Air America, Democrats are planning a fresh assault on the First Amendment in order to squash conservative talk radio. With Al Franken and his buddies having flopped in the free market competition for radio listeners, liberals in Congress are planning to dredge up the old Fairness Doctrine, an abandoned FCC regulation that would require broadcasters to give equal airtime on controversial issues to opposing viewpoints. This is nothing more than a liberal power play to “Hush Rush”.

There’s a noticeable element in our society that is anarchistic. They walk around with a bad attitude, intimidating those around them whom their see are beneath them in their weird, sadistic pecking order.

I recently had the pleasure of being asked to speak at one of our institutions of higher education on the subject of cultural assimilation of ethnic / immigrant groups. The organizer of this series of culturally relevant topics just happened to be searching for a qualified speaker in this area when my publisher’s intrepid Book Publicist, Kelly Hansen (credit where credit is due) just happened to give the lady a call. We Conservatives often accuse the left of having no moral compass. I am not sure that is quite correct. Everyone has a moral compass, although surely not everyone’s operates in the same manner. I think Conservatives have missed their diagnosis of the left. It is not that they have no moral code, it is that they suffer from a new malady, that malady I will call moral retardation.

As al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups in Iraq have not been able to defeat the United States of America, Democrats and RINOs (Republicans in name only) are finally making the moves to do it themselves.  The first step for the Democrats is the ‘non-binding’ vote of ‘no confidence’ in President Bush’s plan to add reinforcements into the Iraq arena, which was passed on Friday.  The second is to defund US troops.  Rep. John Murtha (D-PA) who vocally denigrated US troops in 2006 when he said they were murdering Iraqis “in cold blood continues to call for an immediate cut and run policy from Iraq.  New Speaker of the House Pelosi (D-CA) said she concurs with an abrupt withdrawal.  But, the Democrats’ non-binding and feckless proposal is just the beginning.

An enduring society is not a random assemblage of people drawn together, like pigs around the feed trough, waiting for welfare-state handouts.

The AP has found a new way to attack TV’s 24. They say that because of the depiction of character Jack Bauer’s, shall we say, short-cuts in interrogating prisoners his ways have now infected the US Military. Absurdly, the AP is advancing the case, in “Does Jack Bauer Influence Interrogators?"(1), that “there are indications that real-life American interrogators in Iraq are taking cues from what they see on television.”
