The president always knew that his greatest appeal was not as a leader but as a cultural symbol - America still has a race problem, though not the one that conventional wisdom would suggest: the racism of whites toward blacks. Old fashioned white racism has lost its legitimacy in the world and become an almost universal disgrace.

To call the Democrat actions of the last few months an overreach would be the mother of all understatements. No experienced politician in their right mind would take the nation historically into debt to end a recession, during that recession propose taxing businesses and people for their energy use, use taxpayer money to buy failing banks and car companies, regulate the pay of certain private citizens, and try yet another attempt to take over the nation’s health care system.

British Balls calls for mandatory sex education.  The Secretary of Education there has announced that students over the age of 15 can no longer be exempt from compulsory instruction regarding human procreation and physical relationships.  The parents of students failing to report to these classes could be fined or prosecuted.

There are so many truly awful things going on the world today that it is easy to get overwhelmed and downhearted.  For one thing, it seems that no matter how much We the People protest against the socialist agenda juggernaut going on in our nation’s Capital, all our respective representatives-turned-dictatorial-lawgivers snort is “Whee!  The people...?” This last being squealed as they lift their snouts from the public tax dollar trough in disgust at our kicking and screaming as we refuse to be robbed further or be dragged into their nightmare version of a command economy.

As has been the case for many years, and especially most recently, the charge is that conservatives are falsely railing against a straw man in their observations and accusations leveled against the activities of liberals, and the Obama administration. Before I address this situation directly, let’s take a moment to look at what is meant by the term “straw man.”

For years, gays have been looking for a gene that would legitimately give them the right to say nature has turned them into the opposite sex. As a result, they believe same-sex marriage should be a natural thing. To gays, same-sex marriage should be something beautiful, natural, and part of God’s big plan. But the reasons may be anything but natural.

We are constantly being informed of law suites and legal actions by people that have been “offended” by somebody or something.

We’ve all been subject to fads at some point in our lives. For some, it was pet rocks and mood rings. For others, it was polyester leisure suits and disco. For my generation, it was Rubik’s Cubes and legwarmers. (Of course, the legwarmers only covered the lower calf, so technically they should have been called lower legwarmers, but I digress.) Most of these fads were and are harmless. Except for Furbies. Those were just creepy, man. That was evil incarnate. Eventually, we get tired of the fad and move on with our lives.

Two years ago a newspaper account alleged Hope House, a domestic violence shelter located in Charleston, West Virginia, had admitted an abusive woman to its facility, misled sheriff deputies, and denied her the help she needed(1) Now, new documents have come to light that detail how the domestic violence system apparently failed to help a woman who urgently needed medical treatment.

Shockingly, AP breaks out of their typical liberal mold and reports Insurance companies shed light on extent of sex abuse in Protestant churches, that sexual abuse of minors has been rampant. But in their statement, they indirectly say members of the Catholic Church are not the majority abusers.

While the movie ‘My Big Fat Greek Wedding’ was good cinema, it was also a big fat Hollywood fiction.  With Greece’s fertility rate of 1.36 children per woman - well below the replacement level of 2.1 - “big” is not a modifier demographers would associate with today’s Greek families.  In fact, a more accurate film might be called ‘My Big Fat Muslim Wedding’. 

The Heisman winner in 2007 did it again. Reporters couldn’t believe what they heard, and were speechless--How to leave reporters speechless. University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, who engineered his winning the Heisman, and two national championships, actually spoke the “V” word. To the accompanying reporters’ shock, he said he was a “virgin”, and would remain so until marriage.

You know it is time to take a closer look at a deal when the smarmy pitchman warns you to act now before it is too late.  Unless a safe is falling on your head, it is usually a good idea to step back, take a deep breath or two, and review what is on the table.

Fox New’s LaToya Foster made a good start holding women responsible for chasing rich or powerful men in her latest piece Ladies, Only YOU Can Prevent Cheating(1).  Beyond Foster’s piece resides the reasons why so many women behave this way at the expense of other women.
