Ladies, You Must Prevent Cheating
Society
David R. Usher
Fox New’s LaToya Foster made a good start holding women responsible for chasing rich or powerful men in her latest piece Ladies, Only YOU Can Prevent Cheating(1). Beyond Foster’s piece resides the reasons why so many women behave this way at the expense of other women.

Change That No One Can Believe In - Is it Politics or Prophecy
Society
Michael Bresciani
With an economic downturn of historic proportions, the highest un-employment rate since the great depression and 34 newly appointed czars some with criminal records, communists and forced abortionists, what can we believe? This change seems to lead only to a cliff situated at the end of the far left trek into madness.

U.S. News and Hot, Sexy Chicks
Society
Selwyn Duke
If you’ve ever seen the movie Idiocracy, the title of this piece may seem familiar. The film is a dystopian comedy about a futuristic America in which complete ignorance is the norm. People are inarticulate to the point where even those of status - politicians, doctors, etc. - mangle the language and use profanity to fill in gaps when expressing themselves. The president is a porn star and ex-professional wrestler who wears a muscle shirt, the society’s number-one rated show features nothing but an endless array of groin shots, and the farmers water their plants with a sports electrolyte drink called “Brawndo: The Thirst Mutilator” and yet can’t figure out why the crops fail to grow. And, to illustrate how people have become consumed with frivolity and sex - and frivolous sex at that - the title of a certain famous news magazine that just recently curtailed its print publication (in reality) has been changed to “Hot Naked Chicks & World Report.”

Another Elvis Sighting
Society
Paul A. Ibbetson
"I just saw Elvis!” Even decades after the death of the legendary singer, people still exclaim these same words with detailed accounts of their personal sighting of “The King.” I, along with most of the nation, mourned Presley’s death in 1977 but for me, like for most people, that day was the closing of the living story of Elvis, not the beginning of the secret life of the musician/actor. When we look critically at the Elvis sighting phenomena of more than three decades, we can see a complex mental conditioning that allows certain people to come to a place where logic and reason are altered to a point where the next guy shuffling down the sidewalk in a pair of blue suede shoes could be “you know who”.

‘The Man in the Mirror: Will Michael Jackson’s legacy live forever?’
Society
Kendall Wingrove
"I’m starting with the man in the mirror,
I’m asking him to change his ways,
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself, and then make a change…
You gotta get it right, while you got the time.”

Taking the Pulse of the Nation

Sitting in a cabin on the edge of a lake in the middle of the woods with the woman I love. The open windows bring a gentle breeze cooling the pleasant knotty-pine paneled room. The sounds of birds provide a sound-track to my thoughts. Governments may fall and economies may stumble but everyone needs some time aside to gather their thoughts.

America: In the Beginning of Sorrows

Not everyone is directly affected by the latest injustices or is a victim of a crime but it is impossible not to be touched in some way by the absurdities and atrocities we see all around us everyday. Who is not made sad just hearing of these things?

‘What Causes the Result?’
Society
Robert R. Owens
That America has changed is without question. No one gets to lives in the world they were raised to live in. My father grew up in a house with a dirt floor and no running water. He plowed a field with mules just as his father did and his father and so on. My grandmother never heard of telephones, or airplanes or electricity until after she was 21 and had several children yet I sat next to her in 1969 watching men walk on the moon. My grandfather’s generation was the first in my family that learned to read, my father’s generation was the first to grow up with shoes on, mine was the first that grew up in a city, my son’s was the first to have a computer before they had a car and my grandchildren are the first to grow up in an America that’s the largest debtor on Earth like Blanche DuBois depending on the kindness of strangers.
