On the day following the abominable March 21 congressional vote to subvert the Constitution and subjugate the American people under the dubious auspices of Obamacare, Senator John McCain (R.-AZ) voiced his displeasure with Democrat jubilation over their victory. Apparently, on this occasion, McCain did not appreciate all of the gloating and self-aggrandizement from the left.

Conservatives , the overwhelming majority of Americans, are angry with the Republican Party leadership and how politics has been played since Ronald Reagan left office.  Often Republican nominees have seemed to copy Bill Clinton’s “triangulation” or strategically placing themselves as the arbitrators between conservatives and leftists.  McCain luxuriated in fawning media coverage of his “independence” from conservatives.  George H. Bush, as soon as the Gipper was gone, promised to move us to a “Kinder, Gentler” – moderate - America.  Specter and Jeffords switched parties at critical times.  Who trusts Republican leaders?  Not serious conservatives, who have been burned so often.

Scott Brown’s stunning victory in Massachusetts has predictably generated comparisons of the current political landscape to 1994, when Republicans swept the mid-term elections, propelling them to majority status in both houses of Congress. From local and state level offices all the way to Washington, Democrats suffered severe losses, while not a single incumbent Republican in any congressional or gubernatorial race was defeated.

In an interview with the Baltimore Sun today, Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele publicly rejected the candidate “litmus test” proposed by a group of national conservatives. The concept behind the proposal is to force a certain “conservative ideological purity” on to candidates and elected officials in the Republican Party so that Republicans don’t end up supporting socialist-statist policies. The RNC will vote on the proposal next month when it holds its annual meeting.

In July liberal Republican DeDe Scozzafava was tapped by the 11 Republican county chairmen of New York’s 23rd Congressional District to run for the seat being vacated by John McHugh, who resigned to take Obama’s offer to become Secretary of the Army.

Tom Tancredo challenges Republicans to help lead grass-roots revolt or get out of the way - Thank God John McCain lost the election. Citizen activists are now energized to defeat Obama’s Marxist radicalism – with no help from McCain’s anemic pragmatism.

Democrats chose a presidential nominee strictly on the basis of his race. They were focused solely on “making history,” remember? That president has now chosen a Supreme Court nominee strictly on the basis of her race, once again, to “make history.” So why would you be shocked that the Obamanation press, are once again calling Republicans “racists..?”

Over the past several days, gallons of ink have been spilled trying to answer the question: Where does the Republican Party go from here?

Apparently Ross Douthat’s buddy Reihan Salam doesn’t like former VP Dick Cheney. Salam’s recent TheDailyBeast column(1) calls Cheney “America’s surliest pundit,” and moans that the ex-vp hasn’t “graciously kept his mouth shut” in retirement like Bush has. Like many of these circular firing squad leaders (think Douthat, Kathleen Parker, or David Frum) Salam is far more interested in shooting at folks on his own side than in trying to move ahead for the future of the conservative movement. It’s obviously some sick bid to be “liked” by the Old Media establishment.

The vice chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) is sponsoring a proposed resolution that accuses President Bush and GOP members of Congress who supported the recent Wall Street bailout of helping move the country’s economy “another dangerous step toward socialism.”

I get the impression that Republicans are growing more flaccid by the day – and it’s not because John McCain, their presidential pick, blushes at the mention of masculinity-related medication.

It is time for Christians and Conservatives (not always the same) to run from the Republican Party as if their hair is on fire. How much longer will principled people pretend that the GOP (Is that Gutless Old Party or Godless Old Party?) takes a principled stand?
