Premise: Progressivism (a Communist/Marxist/Socialist ideology) extoles the greatness of mediocrity and uniformness (equal poverty for all).

Readers of FrontPage Magazine are better informed than readers anywhere on subjects like the Left’s control of academia, media, and culture. But what about the Left’s continuing control of the publishing industry?

Last year Pat Rose, head of the FBI’s Orange County al-Qaeda squad, was asked whether radical Muslim students at the University of California at Irvine posed a security threat. Rose responded evasively, saying that “it was a tough question to answer.”

Hillary Clinton is in the midst of a mad dash for campaign dollars, hoping to establish her financial dominance over her competitors for the Democratic nomination.  According to The Washington Post, Clinton plans to bank $60 million in 2007 alone, which “would represent a record-breaking take for a presidential contest.”

So President Bush puts the Army’s top expert on counter-insurgency in charge of our forces in Iraq, and begins sending him additional troops to help pacify Baghdad. The politically-correct “rules of engagement” that have prevented the troops from doing their jobs effectively are lightened. Al-Qaeda in Iraq’s leader is reportedly wounded, and his deputy killed. Moqtada al-Sadr suddenly remembers a pressing engagement in Iran, hikes up his robes and runs for the border. 

Smarting from the bankruptcy of Air America, Democrats are planning a fresh assault on the First Amendment in order to squash conservative talk radio. With Al Franken and his buddies having flopped in the free market competition for radio listeners, liberals in Congress are planning to dredge up the old Fairness Doctrine, an abandoned FCC regulation that would require broadcasters to give equal airtime on controversial issues to opposing viewpoints. This is nothing more than a liberal power play to “Hush Rush”.

The Washington Post ran a February 1, 2007 story about a prostitution ring in Maryland, leaving the impression that American citizens were transporting illegal immigrant women across the U.S. and exploiting them for sexual purposes. In fact, the prostitution ring was itself run by illegal immigrants.

I know, I know, the Cold War is over, the Soviet Union is kaput, what’s left of Russia is just a huge cumbersome land area, with lots of leftover missiles, and a pipsqueak named Putin now running the show. But don’t shove this information under the rug.  Russia still has plenty of schmozzle when it comes to military might.

Given the successes of those states issuing concealed carry permits to citizens, I suggest a nationwide pilot program: the repeal of all anti-gun laws - all 22,000 of them - for a period of five years. This includes a moratorium on all new gun laws for five years, and suspension of all court cases pending for weapons charges with the exception of violent crimes involving a gun. Owning a certain kind of rifle is considerably different from holding up a liquor store with a gun.

A top Democratic Party foreign policy specialist said on Friday that a “very small group” of conservatives is unfairly accusing him of being at the center of a “vast conspiracy” to implement the idea of a “North American Union” by “stealth.” He called the charges “absurd.”

There’s a noticeable element in our society that is anarchistic. They walk around with a bad attitude, intimidating those around them whom their see are beneath them in their weird, sadistic pecking order.

We all remember the embarrassing list of presidential pardons that finalized Bill Clinton’s legacy of sleaze. It was a tawdry list of 145 drug dealers, income tax evaders and the notorious Marc Rich, who fled the United States in the midst of his trial on charges of making oil deals with Iran during the hostage crisis.
