Elusive Quest for Political Labels

I used to be a Kennedy-style “liberal.” Then I wised up. Now I’m a libertarian.
ObamaCare will Make Employees and Employers Worse Off
ObamaCare
Offsite
While Americans are reckoning the financial impact of President Obama’s healthcare reform initiative on the economy as a whole and on them personally, some of its obvious consequences for labor markets thus far seem to have escaped notice.

Congressional Budget Office has new Numbers
Economics
Kevin Price
About two weeks ago the Obama Administration was blushing as it boasted about the “favorable” numbers its administration received from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). The fact that the CBO is appointed by members of the President’s own party (the majority in Congress are Democrats) made some skeptical. However, the experts outside of the CBO and the White House looked at the numbers and said, “wait a minute!” The numbers are scary and the budget is pointing at a direction that will make the US appear to be little more than a typical debtor nation. This is not something “down the road,” but just a few years away.
America’s Socialist Congress Using Stalinist Tactics
Congress
J. D. Longstreet
America’s new Socialist Congress is flexing its Stalinist muscles and scooping up the leadership of a number of America’s business giants and forcing them to Washington to an inquisition, which is designed to do two things. One: To make an example of these chosen corporations—and two: To put the fear of God —well, allow me rephrase that – to put the fear of the new Soviet-style socialist government into all Americans. The message is: keep your mouth shut and do not question the Obama Regime’s socialist machinations or those of the socialist/democrat congress.

It’s Time For Us To All Be Thankful For Socialism
Socialism
Malcolm T. Hedges
Comrades Obama, Pelosi and Reid as well as their associates want to be thanked for their efforts.
Send the National Guard to the Border
National Security
Armand C. Hale
Following the brutal killing of Arizona rancher Robert Krentz (presumably by illegal aliens), New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson has decided to send New Mexico National Guardsmen to help secure New Mexico’s stretch of the U.S. - Mexico border.
Obamacare’s secret surveillance
Big Brother
Offsite
Blog sites have been buzzing about the National Medical Device Registry, a new office in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that was created in the Obamacare reconciliation package. Concern centers on the registry’s authority to conduct “postmarket device surveillance activities on implantable medical devices,” including those that feature radio-frequency identification. The word “surveillance” conjures ominous images of government tracking and reporting. Some have suggested the law lays the groundwork for compulsory microchip implantation so the state can keep tabs on everyone - for their own good, naturally.

Doing the Socialists’ bidding
Demercrats
Henry Lamb
People who follow the teaching of Buddha are called Buddhists. People who follow the teaching of Christ are called Christians. People who follow the teaching of Karl Marx are called Marxists, except in the United States, where they prefer to be called Democrats.

The coming dictatorship
Police State
Offsite
In my article “The question ‘conservative’ pundits fear,” I commented on how pleased I’ve been to see Glenn Beck talking about a subject I’ve been writing about since the late ‘70s: a government-declared state of emergency leading to a “temporary” dictatorship.
From Tyrant to Tyrant
Progressivism
J. D. Longstreet
Surely, you didn’t believe President Obama when he declared there would be drilling for oil off the east of America, did you? Nah! Say it ain’t so!

THE AMA-OBAMACARE BAIT and SWITCH
ObamaCare
Offsite
Well, the Democrats finally paid off the quislings at the AMA, and the American people will (as usual) be left to pay the tab. As I wrote in this AmSpec piece last year, the AMA’s support of Obamacare was all about the Benjamins.
Tea Parties and the Republcian Party
Elections
Bruce Walker
The Tea Party movement is trying hard to separate itself from the Republican Party, even to the point of threatening to run as a third party in some races. If Tea Party supporters consider that they are acting in the finest tradition of the American revolutionary spirit, then they should reject a third party movement except in extraordinary circumstances – like supporting Doug Hoffman in the New York House race last year.

The ObamaCare Writedowns - II
ObamaCare
Offsite
So the wave of corporate writedowns - led by ATandT’s $1 billion - isn’t caused by ObamaCare after all. The White House claims CEOs are reducing the value of their companies and returns for shareholders merely out of political pique.

U.S. EPA Goes Unconstitutional: Time to Rein in a Rogue Agency
ObamaNation
Offsite
Synopsis: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, by granting California a waiver to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from motor vehicles, declaring greenhouse gas emissions a danger to public health and welfare, and pulling its punches in the Massachusetts v. EPA Supreme Court case, has positioned itself to regulate fuel economy, set climate and energy policy for the nation, and amend the Clean Air Act - powers never delegated to EPA by Congress. It is time to rein in this rogue agency. The Congressional Review Act Resolution of Disapproval introduced by Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) is the way to do it.
